This need for this roof replacement was from the 2013 hail storm in Tallahassee.  The owners sought us out for a free roof estimate.  Upon inspection it was determined they had previous leaks near the chimney.  During the project, we installed new chimney flashing along with transition flashing along the Florida room.

The owners decided to upgrade from Titanium underlayment to ice and water guard on the entire roof system.  Ice and water guard is a thicker self-adhered underlayment that is installed before the shingles.  The insurance industry considers this a “secondary water barrier” and offers an additional discount if installed.

In order to reap the full insurance benefits of a new roof system you will need what is called a “wind-mitigation inspection”.  This is similar to a 4-point or home inspection.  These homeowners saved approximately $160.00 a year on their insurance premium.

Your insurance company should cover the full replacement cost of a new roof if you have hail storm damage.

Most of the 32317 Buck Lake area was damaged by the 2013 hail storm.  If you are in the area give us a call for a free evaluation.  If hail damage is evident on your roof your insurance policy most likely will cover the full replacement cost (less your deductible).  Remember to call your roofer for an inspection before making a claim!
